| 1.Pack some small surprise toys that can be pulled out when needed. For example, a small can of Play-Doh™ works great in the Travel&Play® travel tray and keeps restless children busy. | |
| 2.Have older children and teens write in a daily journal. This provides a keepsake for them to remember their trip. Also, along the same lines, have all children keep scrapbooks, or give each child a bag to fill with items as the trip moves along. | |
| 3.Have children start their own collection of postcards or items found in most places of travel. This will provide them with something interesting to show their friends when they return home. | |
| 4.Make sure older children have their own money to spend and let them handle the exchange of currency. | |
| 5.Take something lightweight and easy to carry that will provide physical exercise, such as a frisbee or ball. | |
| 6.From toddler age upward, have children pack their own backpacks, taking only what they can carry. Keep in mind that souvenirs will be added as they go. | |
| 7.Make sure children know the name and address of the place where they will be staying. | |
| 8.Complete an ID card with the child's name, address, phone number and social security number. Also, attach a business card from the hotel you are staying at. Keep this ID in a safe place on your child at all times. | |
| 9.Point out local uniformed police officers to your child so he or she will be able to recognize one. | |
| 10.Do not let children go anywhere alone. Always have a designated spot to meet in case of separation. |
